The Spring-Summer 2022 season will not bring a colour revolution. However, next season you will find some peculiar ones in men's fashion. The main trend is for calm and natural tones. Most fashion collections are designed in olive, blue, brown. Nothing flashy, natural materials and shades are in fashion.
But where's the fun in that for all the fashion followers? If you think those colours aren't fun and don't match your energetic nature, then create a bright accent: add a coloured T-shirt, trousers, mackintosh or scarf to your wardrobe and combine them with other pieces in natural shades. We'll show you how to do it later in this article! The street style of Milan Fashion Week will tell us what to expect in spring 2022. Let's take a look at this season's street style and what the experts are choosing.
Matching sets
Sporty style among men has always been fashionable, especially in the last couple of years since everyone started working from home and taking comfort seriously. However, we have started to notice that more and more fashion brands are turning to relaxed styles and sports sets are making a comeback! There are lots of ways to pair suits outside the home, with a coat and even blazers (for the risky ones). Matching sets are a trend with tracksuits, but they go even further. Monochrome sets, which used to be worn only by office workers, are now appreciated by street style lovers in Milan. They look fiery, elegant and sexy as long as they are combined correctly. You can take a look at the sample image above! Ideas for matching sets are below:
Knitwear
The sweater is a staple in every man's wardrobe, so of course we won't talk about it. This season we might pay attention to more oversized and transparent knits. Knitted jumpers that look like they were made by your grandmother look simple and very charming. The see-through trend has slowly arrived in men's fashion, but has never quite emerged. This look is definitely for younger men who are not afraid to stand out. How to integrate it into your look? Here's an example with Nanuska's sustainable collection:
Outerwear (Down jackets, leather jackets)
The outerwear for spring 2022 comes with various classic options that anyone can wear straight away. Down jackets will look great in leather and a shiny finish for colder times. There are plenty of opportunities to suit your taste. Here are the choices for next season:
Stylistic Trends
Neutral + Accents
This season is all about natural colours and muted shades, as mentioned above. However, what to do if you have or love to wear a little colour? Wear it! First of all, wear what feels right and suits your mood or nature. If you want to create a neutral look, add some bright colour details and you will have an elegant and exciting look! It's simple and part of the styling techniques to improve your outfit.
Shirt as jacket
This style solution was probably inspired by the skater looks of Venice Beach in California but is now being shown on the streets of Milan. The trend isn't important, we've seen it before, but we can't deny that it looks effortlessly chic! It almost looks like you didn't think too much about choosing the right jacket. This style solution is great for the spring season when it is still too early for a t-shirt and not too late for a t-shirt and shirt combination. Shirts made specifically to function as jackets are available in various fabrics, but don't forget that you can also wear a non-formal oversized shirt.
Pattern
Plaid
Plaid has never gone out of fashion and we don't think it ever will. If you have a favourite plaid trouser or jacket, wear it! We're seeing mostly muted shades this street style season, mostly in beige and grey.
Cashmere motif
If you're looking for a pattern for the season, this is definitely the cashmere pattern! It comes in many styles and sizes, giving us many opportunities to find the optimal cashmere print. With the cashmere, or paisley, pattern, we also see many ethnic-inspired prints that will be very much in the 2022 summer season.
The colour of the season: blue
Remember the green of spring-summer 2021? This season it will be replaced by blue. The beautiful colour of freedom and lightness that everyone wants. This colour perfectly matches the natural colour aesthetic of the season and will act as the perfect subtle accent.
